The Traveling Frogs

Two Horned Frogs Abroad started as a travel blog to keep our family and friends updated about our latest travels. BK and I knew we wanted to eventually move abroad, but weren't quite sure when it would happen. When I finally came up with a name that we liked, I decided to go ahead and start blogging about our travels to various places throughout the US and the world.

Since then (June 3, 2012) we have been fortunate to travel to many places AND make the move abroad. We relocated from Texas to Basel, Switzerland at the end of March 2013 and it has been a whirlwind since! We brought our two little pups with us, and they are always eager to greet us upon returning from new adventures.

BK and I met in 2002, right before my senior year at TCU. We met at a Peacemakers concert through a mutual friend, and the rest is pretty much history. Two years later, after working hard to convince me he was not interested in getting married for another five years or so, he proposed on a family trip to New York City. A year later we got married in Maui and have been traveling ever since.

If you're reading this and don't know what a Horned Frog is, it's a horned lizard native to to Texas, and more importantly, the mascot of our alma mater- TCU. He may look small, but he is very mighty and shoots blood out of his eyes as a defense mechanism. Purple is our school color. Oh ok, I'll go ahead and put it out there: Bleed Purple and Go Frogs!

The Frogs on this Journey

LK & BK
LK is the writer of this blog and pretty much the keeper of everything that makes our life run somewhat smoothly here in Switzerland. This is her first time not working, but for now her job is to love on Baby K, socialize with other expats, learn French (formerly German), act as the family travel agent, make sure we know how to function in Switzerland, and corral the Tobster. As a social worker in the US, her passion lies with programs addressing poverty and homelessness, as well as educating new social workers.

BK is my Buddy and the reason we're two horned frogs abroad. Specifically we're here for BK's job. He works for an international company in accounting/finance and spends his days looking at numbers, spreadsheets, slide decks and other accounting-type stuff. When he's not at work he likes to spend time with LK; love on Baby K; snuggle with our dog; FaceTime with our family in Texas; enjoy good food and wine; when in Texas, occasionally swing a golf club; and of course, travel to new places as much as possible.

Baby K
Baby K joined us a year into our journey abroad, and has been a great little traveler since day one. She is a happy little thing, now constantly walking around, talking and reading, playing, and "helping" with things around the house. Baby K joined us on our journey when we were still in Basel and has traveled to more places than most Americans. She had her passport at 6-weeks old and hasn't stopped since, including numerous trips across the pond to see family in the US. She's pretty much the cutest thing ever and brings endless joy to our lives.

Toby
Toby is the fluffy dog, and is a little bigger than most miniature dachshunds are supposed to be. He's seven, and is a long-haired red sable. He is a gentle giant who wants nothing more than to be with LK and BK, and loves his Baby as well. He loves the water and enjoys riding the tram, but does not appreciate being left alone or when other children bother him. He's not so snuggly, but wants nothing more than to be with his people.
